Shock Smith called for a left-field option that could reignite the Australians.
Steve Smith and Cameron Green will almost certainly stay on the sidelines Tuesday night when Australia faces Sri Lanka in a must-win T20 World Cup showdown.

The XI that was shocked by New Zealand at SCG Saturday is set to receive another chance having been backed long before this tournament began, despite suffering heavy losses against both India A teams as well England's minor league stars last week."

The Aussies are in trouble. They can't afford to lose another game, or their crisis will have been triggered and they'll be facing tough questions from the press about what went wrong with this team's preparations for Bangladesh Cup 2015.

There is no room left for error after one defeat - Australia needs victories against both Sri Lanka (who beat them soundly) AND England if there’s any chance of making up ground on New Zealand at #3 spot.

The World Cup is a hectic and demanding event, which means that if teams aren't winning or doing so unconvincingly then drastic action could quickly come into play. That would open up opportunities for both Smith & Green who have been conspicuous by their absence from recent squad selection processes.
